How to Use Makeup
Brushes
The key to makeup is
blending, for which you need a decent makeup brush set. Every girl
should consider getting the recommended essential brushes listed here.

Makeup Brushes for Base
Concealer Brush:
These brushes help apply the concealer more evenly over your skin, for a
better end result. Simply use the brush to apply concealer over the
exact area that requires attention.
Foundation Brush or Cosmetic Sponges:
Sponges or larger brushes are the best way to apply foundation. You want
to achieve a light coat, in order to avoid the “heavy mask” look. Pick
your tool well – sponges are best for one-time applications, but use a
brush if you think you will need to touch up on the foundation
throughout the day.
Powder Brush:
Brushes are recommended for powdering – a big, fluffy one works best,
regardless of whether your powder is pressed or loose. It should spread
the product evenly over your face, and the coat can be as light or heavy
as you require.
Makeup Brushes for Cheeks
Blush Brush:
Dome shaped brushes are best for applying blush, as the color will end
up stronger in the center, and blended into the skin as it spreads
outwards.
Bronzer Brush:
If you use bronzer, we recommend that you use a separate brush from the
one you use for blush. Look for a brush that is a cross between a powder
brush and a blush brush for best results.
Makeup Brushes for Eyes
Highlight Brush:
Use this brush to apply eye shadow across the eyelid and over the brow
bone.
Mid-tone Brush:
This tapered brush will apply mid-tone shadow perfectly along the
crease.
Contour Brush:
The stubbier shape of this brush makes it ideal for applying intense
color along the lash line and into the crease.
Eyeliner Brush:
If you use powder or cream eyeliner, you will find an eyeliner brush
very useful. If not, this brush can be passed up for others.
Lash Comb:
A lash comb is designed to help separate your lashes despite clumpy
mascara. Pick a metal one, as plastic versions are not as effective.
Brow Brush:
Use this to shape and groom your brows. It is also helpful for blending
eye brow pencil, for a smoother, natural look.
Makeup Brushes for Lips
Lip Brush:
Tapered and soft, this fine brush comes in handy for applying lipstick
or lip gloss, and blending it with your lip liner. A good brush will
achieve a far better effect than simply applying lipstick from a tube.
